SAP has made new appointments in India. Peter Gartenberg is the new Managing Director, and Alok Goyal assumes the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO). SAP India will be aligned with the company’s largest regional unit EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa) under the leadership of José Duarte, President of SAP EMEA + India.   

Peter takes over from Steve Watts, Interim President, SAP India. Prior to this role, he was serving as COO, SAP India, since November 2009. He will be responsible for all market-facing activities across the field organization, overseeing customer operations as well as general management like sales, consulting, partner ecosystem expansion and marketing.

SAP India will now collaborate with EMEA, to respond to customers’ changing business requirements, optimize growth opportunities, natural trade flows and synergies among the countries. EMEA has a wealth of resources that India can leverage to enhance best practices. With this combination, SAP expects to swiftly strengthen its customer focus, and bring innovation for long-term sustainable growth to its customers in every industry, market and customer engagement.

Alok will now focus on operational excellence and resource optimization, in order to ensure that customers derive maximum value from SAP offerings. Alok was the Vice-President, Strategic Accounts, SAP India and has over 15 years of experience in the industry. For the past six years, he has been leading multiple software business operations within SAP. He has also been recognized for leading the engineering benchmarking programs that drive customer satisfaction.
